Dave's Vision for the Michigan Federation of College Republicans
|
The Problem
Our constitution and bylaws concentrate complete power into the hands of an ambitious few while stifling dissent. The only thing that has increased in this organization is the power of the Chairman and the unprecedented levels of division. The honest members of this organization are driven away while the ambitious run it.
Across the state, College Republicans chapters are at their best. Record levels of membership and grassroots activism are encouraging signs of a strong local conservative movement within the state. Unfortunately, current MFCR leadership has failed to unite the chapters and implement critical off-year initiatives in preparations for 2008.
The Solution
It isn't too late to prepare the Federation for the critical role it will play in providing grassroots activists to Republican candidates. Dave's "2008 Victory Plan" is a series of initiatives that, when implemented, will build the Federation to its strongest position ever. By building College Republican membership statewide, uniting chapters and improving coordination, and organizing for victory, Michigan College Republicans will be prepared for Election Day victories and beyond.
Over the next several weeks, Dave will announce his detailed vision that accomplishes the following goals:
1. Adopt a Common Sense Constitution and Bylaws
I will support the drafting of a new constitution and bylaws based on those of the Michigan Republican Party which will make cheating impossible. Cheating has plagued and divided this organization for years, and I will not tolerate it.
2. Build College Republican Membership Statewide
Chapters are working hard to build their membership and improve their members’ grassroots activism. By implementing new plans to enhance existing recruiting efforts and developing unique training programs, College Republicans will be fully prepared for the challenges 2008 presents.
3. Organizing for Victory
The MFCR has generally failed to fundraise and must make up for lost time if we are to have the resources necessary to promote youth activism in the state. We must also continue to expand political technology initiatives and constantly take advantage of MFCR’s position to offer unique services directly beneficial to chapters.
